Choose Your Own Adventure with Roll Your Destiny’s Fall Offerings

After the success of A Festival of Fae, our team has been hard at work creating our products for Fall 2023!
Those who have been following us from the start know that we hosted A Festival of Fae in June. This one-day game event ran alongside Celtic Fest, held on the Ohio Renaissance Fairgrounds, and featured six Fae Representatives from across the Celtic Realms, who guided guests along their journey as they completed several different challenges throughout their festival day.
With one successful charity event under our belt, our team returned to the drawing board to craft our next creative offering, this one set to run for the entire Ohio Renaissance Festival season.
We took feedback from our players when creating these Autumnal offerings, trying to build off of our strengths while improving on the weaknesses from our first runs.
After some review and plenty of discussion, our team decided the best way to accomplish this would be by making two entirely separate games: one for casual players who were looking for some simple entertainment to accompany their festival experience, and one for players looking for more of a challenge, with trickier puzzles and larger rewards.
So we ended up with two experiences, when we’d originally planned to host just one!

The Adventure Pack
Some participants who played A Festival of Fae found themselves surprised by the game’s challenge level. Although we heard that many puzzles were enjoyed, we also heard that some folks missed the sweet simplicity of Shamrock Shenanigans. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, Shamrock Shenanigans was a scavenger-hunt-style seek-and-find game that encouraged players to wander the park by following simple riddles that led them to landmarks throughout their day. When creating The Adventure Pack we tried to work off that same basis while bringing Roll Your Destiny’s fantasy-styled flair to the experience.
What is it?
The Adventure Pack is a “guided tour” of the Ohio Renaissance Festival, where participants will create their own Adventures by rolling up Objectives they’ll need to complete throughout the Festival Day, using dice provided at the Roll Your Destiny booth. Complete all 3 Objectives for every Adventure by the end of the day, and you can return to the Roll Your Destiny booth for a button that symbolizes your Adventuring Party’s success.

Who should play it?
We’d recommend this game to parents of young children, people visiting the Ohio Renaissance Festival for the first time, and anyone who thinks a bit of randomness can bring some sparkle to their day.
Also, if you’re looking for a part of the fun, not the whole package, groups of any size can purchase an Adventure Scroll. We have two Adventure Scrolls available, one for Willy-Nilly Walkabout, and one for On With The Show!
The Theurgists’ Vault
Our group is dedicated to the creation of interesting and unique immersive experiences with challenging puzzles and compelling characters. The Theurgists’ Vault will bring that experience to our guests, and falls closer in line with A Festival of Fae in format and challenge level.
For this game, we used our players’ feedback as a guide in developing more hands-on puzzles. We also reduced the number of puzzles, so the game should take closer to 2 hours of your time than the 3+ hours required for A Festival of Fae. Still, we tried not to make any cuts on the quality. These puzzles are interactive and have a bit of challenge to them, requiring players to travel the park and piece together mysteries themselves, with some NPC interaction along the way.
What is it?
The Theurgists’ Vault is an immersive gameplay experience that requires players to investigate a mystery. An organization known as The Meridian Alliance is seeking help from freelance adventurers to help them piece together clues about the Five Theurgists of the Archipelago Disclora. The legends of these heroes, who captured elemental might within arcane glyphs, hold clues vital to the reassembly of a shattered artifact. Players must uncover those clues, reassemble the artifact, and learn the secret of the Theurgists’ Sequence of elemental binding, using everything salvaged from the Theurgists’ Vault.
Who should play it?
If you liked A Festival of Fae, this one’s for you! We’d also recommend it to people searching for a dedicated activity to do throughout their visit to the Faire, anyone who loves escape rooms, and anyone who loves to read a good story or solve an unexpected puzzle.
